Concetta’s Italian Cooking Experience

Concetta’s Italian Cooking Experience, established in 2011, has been a passion I’ve pursued whenevertime allowed. Now, I’m ready to make it a central part of my life, driven by a bold vision for thefuture. As I step into this new phase, I warmly welcomeany help and guidance along the way.

It is not just about learning recipes, it’s about immersing oneselfin the rich culture of Sicilian cuisine, connecting with others, and celebrating the simple, yetprofound, act of cooking and sharing food.I’m Concetta Sultan, blending the rich traditionsof Sicilian cuisine with the principles of the SlowFood Movement, which I have been a committee member since about 2017.

The cooking experience celebrates the rich culinary traditions of Sicily, with a focus onusing time-honoured recipespassed down through generations. It’s about cooking with heart, usingqualitylocalingredients, and preserving the true flavours of Italian family cooking.

Emphasising the importance of food as a way to bring people together, fostering a sense of community and family through shared meals and cooking experiences. Ourworkshops and events are designed to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where participants canlearn, connect, and enjoy the fruits of their labour together.

Currently, I attend several festivals each year, delivering cooking demonstrations or mini workshopsto large audiences. I also run hands-on cooking workshops for more intimate gatherings, usually once a month. These workshops are a collaboration with growers, producers, and local businesses, bringing together their communities and mine. The workshops have grown in popularity, often fillingeach class of around 14 participants. In 2017, I co-authored the Cugini in CucinaCookbook, which hassold approximately 1,300 copies solely through word of mouth.

Since 2021, after the challenges of COVID-19 and the end of a long relationship, I entered atransitional phase that led me to travel solo with my dog across rural WA, focusing on property andanimal care—a season of personal and spiritual growth. During my travels, I discovered several smallgrowers who were deeply passionate about their farms and produce. Their dedication reignited myown passion for cooking and inspired meto revive my workshops. Through this journey, I alsouncovered a deeper truth: true happiness comes from doing what we love, free from the fears ofjudgment, failure, or financial insecurity. At the beginning of 2024, I felt ready to reconnect with local communities, collaborating with these growers to bring my workshops back to life.

I’ve established social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, as well as this website. Most of my event tickets have been sold via Eventbrite, thanks to the power of collaboration. Looking ahead, I am committed to expanding my presence and reaching a wider audience, both in Australia and internationally, with the right support.

My vision is to create a highly visual and engaging website that will be accessible to people aroundthe world where I can share my storyand inspire others.
